The Rectangle Pizza Steel

Solid Carbon Steel Baking Plate for Crispy Pizza

Rectangle 400mm x 300mm (15.75 inches x 11.81 inches) and 10mm thick (0.393 inches), 9.45kg

Material: Solid Carbon Steel
Our pizza steels are made from 10mm Grade 250 solid carbon steel material and are perfectly suitable for cooking. They are laser-cut, then sandblasted to achieve a smooth surface, and coated with flaxseed oil ready for first use.

Engraving: No engraving included.

Holes: There are two finger holes along the same edge so you can hang it for storage if you like. If you prefer no holes, you can order through our custom order form.

Seasoning:
We initially apply (Flaxseed Oil) after blasting which "coats" the steel and penetrates more when heated. Similar to the language used "seasoning cast iron". The first heating of the pizza steel for 1 hour is the beginning of the seasoning process, once is enough since the pizza steel is only used for baking, but enthusiasts can heat to a high temperature more than once and let cool and repeat if they want to use the pizza steel for cooking different types of food.

Cleaning:
Let the pizza steel cool completely before cleaning. Use a metal scraper or stiff brush to remove any food residue - avoid soap or soaking in water. If needed, wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. To prevent rust, apply a light coat of cooking oil after each use and store in a dry place. Over time, your steel will develop a natural non-stick patina that improves performance.

The Rectangle Pizza Steel

Description

Steel is a natural conductor and super-heats twenty times more than a ceramic baking stone and stays searingly hot even when the fresh dough hits the surface of our Pizza Steel.

The Pizza Steel is made super tough to go straight into your kitchen oven set at the highest temperature. More heat energy is transferred to your crust to get the outstanding performance of a 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (537 degrees Celsius) oven in a home oven at just 450 degrees Fahrenheit (232 degrees Celsius).

No need for a time an expensive, messy and time consuming wood-fired oven to bake a crispy pizza crust with the tastiest base, charred and blistered dough pockets are achieved on this Australian Made steel plate.

The textured bead-blasted surface is seasoned with Flaxseed Oil and is solid, unbreakable and guaranteed for life. For best results, heat the Pizza Steel for at least 30 minutes at 240 degrees C and only use fresh pizza dough (already cooked dough will burn).

Pizza Crust
is just better cooked on
steel.

Every Pizza Steel is precision cut in our Perth factory on our CNC Plasma Cutter and then engraved on a CNC Machining Centre to brand each one with its unique identity.

Testimonials
5/5

This is the best product for baking bread or pizza. I have tried a baking stone before and was not happy at all. After reading about Alloy's baking steel, I decided to give it a try. I sent an email asking a few questions to ensure the product is right for me. I received a prompt response with answers.

Game-Changer for Homemade Pizza!
I had no idea my home oven was capable of making pizza this good. The Pizza Steel heats up fast, stays hot, and gives my crust that perfect golden crunch — just like a wood-fired oven. It’s also great for baking bread and searing steaks. Easily one of the best kitchen investments I’ve made. Highly recommend!

We ordered a custom sized pizza steel to max out the size of pizza we could make in our home oven, we have just had an absolutely fantastic meal using the steel.

Bought a baking steel from them last week. The team at Alloy were a pleasure to speak to and knew their stuff. The steel itself is amazing and the quality of my bread has noticeably improved. Can't recommend highly enough!

Frequently Asked Questions

A pizza steel is a flat slab of solid carbon steel designed to cook pizza in your home oven. Unlike pizza stones, it delivers up to 20x better heat transfer, giving you a crispier crust and faster cook time.

We work exclusively with high-grade metals. Only Pizza Steel, manufacturers of the authentic solid, provides a Certificate of Origin document, which ensures only high-grade stainless steels and metals are used.

Place your pizza steel on the middle rack of your oven and preheat it at the highest temperature (usually 250°C/480°F) for 60 minutes. Once preheated, slide your prepared pizza onto the steel using a pizza peel. Bake until the crust is golden and bubbly - usually in just 5–8 minutes. For best results, keep the steel in place and bake pizzas one after another with minimal reheating.

Yes, you can leave your pizza steel in the oven permanently. It won’t damage your oven and can actually help regulate temperature by reducing hot spots. Just remember it will take longer for your oven to preheat. Avoid storing it on the bottom of the oven, as this can interfere with heat flow and baking performance.

Not at all! While it's perfect for baking restaurant-quality pizza, your pizza steel is incredibly versatile. Use it to bake bread, pastries, flatbreads, and cookies, or even as a griddle on the stovetop for searing steaks, smash burgers, or roasting vegetables. It’s a multi-use tool built for serious heat and endless cooking possibilities.
